November 2024 Museletter: Choosing Purpose and Positive Focus in Times of Adversity
Supporting you to free your mind so you can live from your heart!
“Even though we live in a time of adversity, we must remain true to our purpose in life. It does no good to bemoan the state of affairs. On the contrary, during these times, we are asked to continue demonstrating for a just and equitable world. A place where everyone can live and thrive without fear. So, let’s get to work. Find a place to contribute who you are and…do something.

Choosing Purpose and Positive Focus in Times of Adversity
This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending a four-day seminar led by my teacher and mentor, who shared the quote above. In my humble opinion, her words capture the perfect response to times like these.
It is the nature of our brain to focus on what’s going wrong, sometimes even catastrophizing every challenge. If we dwell on these thoughts for too long, we can find ourselves feeling frustrated, fearful, resigned or even cynical. This focus can prevent us from seeing the contribution we are here to make.
The truth is, we can look at the world as a dumpster fire spiraling madly out of control, or we can choose to see it with compassion, recognizing a world deep in transformation that is actively seeking and creating solutions to help us thrive as a species. By being mindful of where we focus our attention, we can see that no matter what is happening and what we’re experiencing, it is possible to rise above it and move forward with what is most meaningful in our lives.
I Affirm: Today I am willing to focus on how I can live and thrive with less fear and more solution. I can start right where I am with what I've got.
Step by Step,
Jessie
