Close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths and feel your shoulders drop and relax. When you open your eyes, see if you can observe reality exactly as it is with no interpretation of it. Imagine the room you are sitting in without you in it. The room still exists with light streaming in the window, the birds outside, a dog barking in the distance.
When you come in the room, what do you bring with you? Your ideas and stories about you and the world. Most of them subconscious thoughts stemming from long ago. Most of them trying to solve a perceived problem or change something.
Take one more deep breath and imagine setting all of that aside and letting it go. Look at the room your in as for the first time.
I affirm: Today I will notice when I get wrapped up in a story about me, you and the world. I will pull my focus back to the present and see if I can find the peace in the moment and the neutrality of the moment and smile.
