Being Willing: The Heart of Transformation
What is being willing?
Being willing is our capacity to say “yes” to whatever life presents, regardless of what we think or how we feel. Being willing comes from our hero's heart and is able to transcend the brains doubt and worry.
It’s stepping forward even when we don’t know how or aren’t sure we want to.
When I learned about being willing from my mentor, I saw how I had been letting my thoughts and emotions—like tiredness, doubt, or waiting for the "right time"—hold me back. I would wait to feel ready, or tell myself I'd do it tomorrow, but that moment never came and tomorrow was everyday.
When I learned to narrow my focus on my most cherished life intentions and took small, consistent steps even when it was hard, I became willing to grow. I stopped expecting life to feel easy and noticed that this actually created more ease in my life. A paradox indeed.
Here's a powerful question to ask yourself: “What price am I willing to pay to create the growth, joy, and contribution I'm seeking?”
When I committed to becoming a coach, after many other failed career attempts, I told myself I’d be willing to look foolish, make mistakes, and stay uncomfortable as long as it took. In the past, I quit as soon as things got tough or too uncertain. This time, I embraced the discomfort and kept going finding my life's work.
Being willing unlocks your potential. It’s not about knowing how or waiting for the right feelings—it's about saying "yes" and moving forward over and over again, no matter what. This is what develops unshakable confidence.
I Affirm: Today I will look at mistakes and discomfort as signs of growth and I will congratulate myself for really being in the game of life and up to amazing things!
Step by Step,
