Gentle Accountability: Choosing Agency Over Blame

This quote can be a bitter pill to swallow or a hard lesson to learn.

How easy it is to blame people, circumstances, or external factors when life doesn’t go as we thought it should—or when it doesn’t look the way we want it to.

To counteract this very human tendency, it can be helpful to ask: What am I doing—or not doing—that may be contributing to this outcome?

I affirm: Today, with compassion and gentleness, I will examine whether I’m blaming anyone or anything. If I see that I am blaming I will look and see what actions I might take. I am willing to shift from blame to agency.

Step By Step,

Jessie
