We live in a world of polarity. Love and fear are opposing forces that shape our actions and define how we move through the world based on where we are focusing our attention. Fear’s obsession with self-preservation can appear rational, but it narrows our vision, turning life into a transactional exchange of giving to get.
Love opens us up. It is not concerned with perfection or approval; it sees the inherent value in giving without expectation. When we develop the skill to focus on love, even while fear is present, we stop being preoccupied with judgment—ours or others’—and step into a state of abundance.
Love creates, nurtures and frees; fear withholds, criticizes and confines. The choice is ours to make, every moment of every day: will we offer ourselves to the world with love, or will we shrink back in fear?
We forget that our gifts and talents are about contributing to others. Fear has us concerned with what we are getting. Love has us look for what we can give. Love is selfless. Fear is consumed with self. Fear says ”what will they think?” Love says, here is my offering. Take what you like and leave the rest.
I Affirm: Today I am willing to be ruthless in my love and make an offering in some small way to the world. I am also willing to see where I might have been being transactional by giving to get and let it go.
